Good value and performance

A very good all round sight, for the price it it really all you will need. I like the mildots.
Easy to set up on most rifles including rimfire, image is clear and the IR an added bonus. I prefer blue to green, the red is fine though.
It is tough and very durable, has taken some knocks well.
I liked it so much I bought another!
A very good quality scope, giving excellent value and performance.

Hawke sport hd 3-9x40 ao ir

I got this scope for my s410 and it came well packaged and with full instructions . Mounting is easy and medium mounts still left enough room for magazine clearence . Zeroing is fairly straightforward by unscrewing turrets and the dusters are not too stiff or loose and give a nice click to help with adjustment . So far my scope seems to hold zero fine . The reticule can be illuminated red/green for low light shooting , has 5 levels of brightness , and is easily turned on/off using left hand side turret . The adjustable objective works well focusing at different ranges but the values marked may be a little out ( I'm clear when set on 25yrds at a target at 40yrds ) but that's not really a problem for me , if your looking for something field target suitable then probably not the scope for you but for hunting/bit of hft it does the job . All in all I would say anyone looking for a start up scope or something on a budget won't go far wrong with this scope .

Pros
Value for money , great basic scope
Cons
Not as clear as some scopes , quite thick crosshairs

Great all-rounder

I'm not too sure what more an airgunner would ever need beyond what you'd get with the Sport HD AO IR. The glass may not be up to top spec Hawkes or beyond into £300+ scopes, but then it really doesn't need to be. You get a decent image through it, two colours of IR that have 5 brightness settings. an easy to use reticle and even a set of bikini covers. It works fine in low light conditions so, with the adjustable objective lens model, what more do you need? The mil-dot reticle is a pretty basic affair, but it does everything you need it to quite comfortably. It holds zero perfectly on both PCP guns and springers.

The caps for the turrets feel a bit suspect; I wouldn't want to be dropping them too much, but other than that the build quality is very good. I found they were a bit stiff to adjust; on a cold winter's day the last thing you want is those sharp teeth digging into your fingers as you adjust them. Also, the AO is a bit stiff, making it hard to adjust without moving the gun off target. It's certainly not sensitive enough to be done with just thumb and index finger. That said though, it does a great job of being an entry level serious scope. They'd make a great choice of scope if you're buying an air rifle combo kit, as there are very few situations where this range is out of its depth.
Good job, Hawke.

Pros
Cost
well kitted out
Cons
the image is bright, not always so clear though
