The MTC Mamba is our speciality hunting scope. This scope has the same excellent optics as the Viper range but will appeal to the shooter who prefers to use low profile turrets. In fact these turrets are some of the lowest available, superb for those situations where knocking could occur. Like the Viper, this riflescope is suitable for all calibres from Air Rifle to .50BMG.

- Ultra low profile turrets

- ETE microlux fully multi-coated lenses
- Waterproof, fogproof, shockproof & nitrogen purged
- Integral colour-coded metal flip-up covers supplied

Mamba 3-12x44

MTC MAMBA 3-12X44 SCB ret
I brought this scope as I wanted something for hunting and this scope was recommended my many members of many different Air gun forums ,,so I took the advice and purchased one
What you get , well apart from the scope you get
A set of mounts ,flip up covers , Sun shade , two batteries, and some tools (allen keys flip up cover adjusting tool) and a cleaning cloth .

The technical stuff
Length 14.26 inches
Weight 21.65 oz
Tube diameter 30MM
Side adjustable PA
Illumination ret 7 step RIR
Waterproof, fogproof, shockproof & nitrogen purged

Once out of the box and under inspection you really get a sense of the build quality ,it has a durable black satin coat that feels quality to the touch. The dials I.e Side adjustable PA the ultra low turrets all move beautiful with a click they feel solid.the ir adjustment comes from two neat little rubber buttons 1 has a + sign the other a - sign they work effectively and are very easy to ajust even when your looking through the scope
The glass: looking through this scope at a brilliant white wall the wall stayed white which is grate for a scope of this price usually with lesser scopes the glass can make things yellow looking .
Mounting the scope is simply and is made simpler by the fact MTC supply you with a very nice set of 30MM low mounts. once mounted you can see just how low the scope sits ,very aero dynamic looking .

Testing the MAMBA : after zeroing the mamba it was time to take her hunting and all I can say is wow truly fantastic . firstly the SCB ret is clear and sharp and gives you lots of aiming points (I'm a massive fan of the SCB RET) The glass on this scope amazes me it's so clear it's unreal for the price , I've seen people moaning about "white out " on some of the mambas I have had 3 and have never experienced this. On any magnification I found it clear and crisp .in low light it works flawlessly (I recommend removing the sun shade ) but it not nessassry . It's also works great under a lamp with its 44MM objective lens it scoops up the light effortlessly .
Even tho this scope is marketed as a hunting scope I've used it for HFT and if you leave it on 10x zoom it's clear from 10 yds to 45 yds so perfect for a bit of HFT competition.
To wind this review up I'd say if your looking for a mid price range scope with all the bells and whistles and glass well above its price range look no further .

Also if you have read my connect review you'll see I mention the customer service from MTC
Again it's second to none Gary and Sammie are just brilliant and go above and beyond.

No, not for me.

If you do a lot of shooting in good light conditions, or don't use particularly high magnification, this would be a great choice. The lenses give great light and colour retention and clarity is good. However, I don't do a lot of day time shooting. I shoot at dawn and dusk. This thing just went milky at anything more than 5x mag. No matter where I put the scope on the rail, not matter how much time I spent lining up my eye, the results were always the same; like shooting into fog. It didn't even help having a gunsmith set it up for me to my head position. nothing corrected the milkiness. The low turrets are great, as is the digital IR and the SCB reticle is very handy. Coming with mounts is also a nice touch from MTC - it's not often you get that with bigger scopes. Yet all of this is going to be ancillary to the main job of showing you the thing you're shooting. A frustrating purchase.

Pros
Good build quality - save the scope caps
well kitted out
Great reticle in the SCB
Cons
Mine went cloudy in low light conditions. constantly.
