Price Check

This super quiet new silencer from Weihrauch was originally designed to fit the new HW100 rifles.

It has a half inch UNF fitting, which means it will fit almost any factory screw cut air rifle, and light enough that you would hardly notice it at all. This has to be one of the most efficient silencers, it drastically reduces the muzzle noise from almost every rifle and is the must have addition to most pre-charge hunting rigs.

Very nice kit

It really is the best. Good value, good performance.
One niggle, finish. It scratches easily. A more robust external finish would be better.
I have gotten round this by wrapping some Real Tree camo tape over it.

Pros
Silent on all rifles
Cons
A little bit long....
Chips paint easily.

Still the One

It's the one to which all silencers should be compared, with good reason. When it came out this silencer sent a new benchmark in sound suppression. It quietens a gun down to almost nothing.

It looks like they've made it to beat anything on the market today in terms of functionality. I guess, you could spend £30 more and get a Huggett, but unless you're really into looks, then there isn't any need to. At any range, the gun's report will be of no consequence; the pellet's impact noise is much noisier.

The biggest concern is the coating. It does seem to scratch much easier than its competitors, especially the Daystate reflex ones and the BSA VC. it's also much harder to disguise the scratches once they're on, as they seem to show up as a glossy grey on the matt black background. The length could be criticised if we're being really picky, but it doesn't feel too long or cumbersome when it's on the rifle. Daystate's reflex silencers are great because only 3.5" sticks out beyond the barrel, but its silencing capabilities are well short of the HW. I'd rather a silencer did the job for which it was designed, before having secondary tricks.

The only silencer that I'd consider buying instead of this one is the BSA VC silencer. That's £10 cheaper and does the job of silencing equally well - although playing around with the variable chokes is a bit of a pain (see my review on it). The HW silencer is much sleeker and a little bit lighter than the VC, although that problem with scratching is a pain.
The solution? look after it and you're sorted!

Pros
Really quiet
strippable for cleaning purposes
really good, non reflective finish.
Cons
scratches (see above)
It's made me get Shania Twain's 'You're Still the One' stuck in my head.

Best off the self moderator available.

It's the best off the shelf moderator available, very quiet without the tinny sounds that some can produce. It is quite long but the alternative is a less effective mod. It is the moderator that all others are judged against.

Pros
Quiet!
Cons
Fairly long.

HW moderator

I have one as standard on my HW100 and have tried one on an LGV challenger (works perfectly) and a TX200.
I've never come across anything better then this one yet even though people sometimes tell me "well its not as good as !!!!!" but when I try other ones they have never been better in my opinion just more expensive!
They are simple by design (the best way) using apparently Boots pink hair rollers so I am told and felt round the outside though the new ones don't use hair rollers now.

Pros
Light weight alloy construction with good anodising, never come across anything better as yet despite claims others are better.
Cons
Would be nice if it was shorter

hw mod

Not much to these mods other than good overall suppressing ability. the end cap has an allen key type hole so you can use a 7mm allen key to open it up for cleaning. inside isn't anything special, a couple of washers, some hair curlers and some felt padding... although simple in design and not much on the inside it does do the job better than any other moderator i have tried so far, and thats why i have them on all of my air rifles. works best with pcp's...

Pros
quiet moderator, simple design, light, does the job just fine...
Cons
not really any cons, this mod is the benchmark for all other suppressors...
