Weihrauch HW95K .22

It has been short-stroked by 10mm and shoots even better.

Pros
Reasonably priced (I only buy secondhand)
Lightweight, accurate and easy to cock and load.
Spring was properly finished at both ends.
Cons
Noisy until a few things are fitted.
Mine had no piston sleeve or top hat.
Very close to 12 ft/lb (too much)
Fiddly to strip and rebuild compared to Air Arms springers

Weihrauch HW95K SFS

Very good value for m oney

Pros
Great gun, nice light weight, very quiet . This was bought from Sandwell Fieldsports and tuned by them. Was sitting at 12.3ft lbs on receipt and had to have some spacers removed to get it back to 11.2. I had the .177 version and after zeroing at 25m it was easily one holing pellets. I fitted a extra set back trigger from Rowan and also a big button safety catch.
Cons
Not a lot really I'd like to see Weihrauch fit allen bolts on their guns, but apart from that can't fault it.

S.F.S Tuned hw95

I love this rifle. I find it very well balanced when shooting off hand ,not to heavy but enough weight to feel solid with absolutely no muzzle flip. I have not found it pellet fussy unless going beyond 40yds in which case the heavier pellets definitely perform better, beyond 40 yds with anything less than 14grn (yes its .22) i experience problems !! (I haven't tried every make of pellet going though !!) My preference is the cheap and cheerful rws superfield 4.51, my 95 likes them and is consistent on 2 inch targets at 60 yds with a fraction under 4 mil dots holdover. It was a lovely rifle as standard however i must say the S.F.S tune transformed it into a stunning rifle. I think they represent excellent value for money at around the 300 quid mark new, which i realise is not "cheap" particularly for potential new comers but it will last a lifetime !! Which makes it top value in my book. If your looking for a quality break barrel i would not hesitate in recommending one.

Pros
Superb accuracy
Great trigger
Quite
Reliable
Light enough to carry all day

Cons
The rifle was "slightly ill finished" on the inside edge of the stock at the front. I had to REALLY look for this and it was finished properly at the point of tune without asking !!!!

We all remember our first love!

Ah the heady days for the first air rifle! My friend lent me his HW95k for a few months to eradicate a rat problem. Rats eradicated, new problem: hooked on air guns and this was the gun that did it.

It is a fantastic beginner's rifle. It's very well built, without being too heavy. The cocking action could do with being a bit smoother, and it did take a while to find a pellet type that really suited it. Of course I didn't really know that different types of pellets could make a difference, so I spent quite a while blaming the gun for what was a relatively simple thing to sort out. Oops. Of course my marksman skills were perfect right from the off...honest.
Once I'd found that the H&N FTT and the AA Diabolo Fields were the best pellets in the gun, I felt like I could really get a lot out of the gun. Because it's a full power rifle it's got more than enough juice to take out rabbits and I had a happy time knocking them off with a gun that proved solid and reliable.

However this isn't just a great gun for a beginner; this is a great gun. The temptation might be to think a PCP is superior, but that's just not the case when compared with a genuinely quality gun like the 95k. The rekord trigger in particular is excellent. There's plenty of carry in it and a well defined two stage movement that makes it a joy to use. It really does need a silencer as it does develop a fair bit of a crack, but then that's true of any gun. It can also be fitted with excellent open sights for the more adventurous of you out there.

Would I buy this over any other springer on the market? That's a tough question, as I'd love to get my hands on an HW97 KT, but the 95k is £150 cheaper and there's no way you're getting £150 less gun for that money! Beginner or expert alike, this is a gun to be considered as up there with the best.

Pros
Built to last
Not that heavy (for a springer!)
solid all rounder
Cons
Mine was pretty pellet fussy
